In anime, we're used to seeing the pairing of two different personalities, as they can make for a memorable duo. When it comes to some romantic comedy anime series, the prospect of two different characters bonding is made even more special by the slow burn route the two choose to travel romantically. It's a path that often moves at a glacial rate, as two protagonists slowly realize their true feelings for each other, despite their friends, co-workers, or family constantly shouting along with the audience how obvious those feelings are. Fortunately, for a series high on comedic moments like "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!" fans have no problem with the series' protagonists taking their sweet time to figure out their feelings, as they can sincerely laugh along the way.

Written and illustrated by Take, the original manga series about a loner introvert named Shinichi and his boisterous classmate Hana who wants to enrich his life in her own energetic and annoying way, debuted in 2017 (via Anime News Network). It didn't take long for the series to become adapted into an anime, which made its premiere in 2020. Fans didn't have to wonder too long about the series continuing past its first season, as a trailer that confirmed a new season was released shortly after the finale.

With an official release window revealed, here's everything we know so far about "Uzaki-chan Want to Hang Out!" Season 2.

The first season of "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!" debuted on July 10, 2020, but with only 12 episodes, fans wanted to see more about Hana's slice of life misadventures with Shinichi. Fortunately, the series is set to return with another season, but there will be a bit of a wait. Funimation tweeted that the second season is currently scheduled for a 2022 release date. Funimation didn't give an exact date within that year, but at its earliest, fans could hope for a release during the Winter 2022 Anime season, which would begin in January 2022.

Otherwise, the next season of the series could replicate the summer date of Season 1 and premiere in July 2022. While the scheduled release for Season 2 of "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!" seems to be for Japanese broadcast, that doesn't mean western audience will be left in the cold. Funimation streamed Season 1 of the series as it aired in Japan (via Anime News Network). The fact that the company tweeted about Season 2 seems to show that they'll likely stream the series again when it starts airing overseas.

Throughout Season 1 (via Funimation) of "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!" we were introduced to college loner Shinichi Sakurai and his underclassmen Hana Uzaki. The two were former high school classmates who, by chance, wound up going to the same college. Hana made it her mission to bust Shinichi out of his shell, much to his chagrin, but the two became great friends. Season 2 will still feature the two series leads, especially as they continue to swim in frustrating denial over their true feelings for each other. Much of Season 1's supporting cast will make their return. This includes Shinichi's friend Itsuhiko Sakaki and café coworker, Ami Asai. Last season Itsuhiko and Ami teamed up in the hopes of romantically bringing together Hana and Shinichi. We can expect the two to continue their relationship efforts in Season 2.

As far as character debuts in the next season, we may end up seeing more of Hana's family make their animated debut. Last season, the anime introduced Hana's mother, Tsuki Uzaki, and Hana's younger brother, Kiri Uzaki, had a cameo in the season finale. Based on one of the key visuals shown on the official anime site, Season 2 will include the debut of Hana's younger sister Yunagi Uzaki. The character is seen in the background watching her older sister and Shinichi through her bangs-covered eyes. With her siblings and mother, this means Hana's father Fujio Uzaki could show up as well, bringing a proper family reunion to the anime series.

Season 1 of "Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!" focused more on the daily lives between Hana and Shinichi as her antics to help her upperclassman leave his loner lifestyle led to numerous embarrassing incidents for him. However, if the season finale is anything to go by, Season 2 could see the series lean more into its romantic side. The anime series has stuck close to the manga, with Episode 12 covering chapters 30-34 or roughly when Volume 4 of the manga begins (via Seven Seas Entertainment). While the manga past this point still includes Shinichi struggling to tolerate most of the actions of Hana, the two come much closer to finally admitting that there is more to their friendship than they initially thought. However, the realization doesn't come easy, even as the two begin acting more like a couple.

In the manga, friends, family, and even a fortune teller all try their best to tell Hana and Shinichi the most obvious fact about their feelings for one another and push them together. We don't know how much more of the manga Season 2 will cover, but by the time it premieres, it should have a lot from its source material to use. The manga is still ongoing, with seven volumes released in Japan so far (via Crunchyroll).
